Hypoallergenic Cat Company Launches Pet Buddies Program to Donate … - PR Newswire (press release)(hypoallergenic dogs)

Following a successful pilot conducted in 2008, ALLERCA Lifestyle Pets officially launches its Pet Buddies program to provide the company’s hypoallergenic kittens at no cost to pet-allergic children undergoing long-term medical treatment. The results of the pilot Pet Buddies program demonstrated the positive benefits to recovery that a pet can bring to these children, with further confirmation coming from parents. For each client who purchases a hypoallergenic kitten, ALLERCA Lifestyle Pets donates a kitten to the Pet Buddies program. In 2010, ALLERCA Lifestyle Pets will introduce the company’s hypoallergenic dog, the Jabari GD to the Pet Buddies program. Candidates for the Pet Buddies program are children under 18 years of age who are in remission from a life-threatening disease and who are in low-income families or where the families have experienced hardship due to the cost of the child’s medical treatment.

How to help floppy-eared breeds with ear infections - Allentown Morning Call(hypoallergenic dogs)

I am always taking her to the vet for checkups, which usually results in being told she has another ear infection. Dogs with drooping ears are more susceptible because the limited airflow provides a warm dark environment for bacteria and yeast to thrive. Animal shelter still reeling from busy year (The Iowa City Press-Citizen)- About: hypoallergenic dogs

However, Iowa City Animal Care Director Misha Goodman said a combination of too many animals, not enough staff and losing their home to last summer’s flood made 2008 extremely busy — and not necessarily in a good way. According to the 2008 Iowa City Police Report, the Animal Care and Adoption Center impounded 2,362 animals last year. Part of the reason for the shelter’s busy year so far in 2009 is that while it is a municipal animal shelter, the center actually serves the entire county in one way or another. What that means is virtually every single animal-related call in Johnson County, including the case of 30 dogs being seized from a property in Amana last week, goes to the Iowa City animal shelter. The animal shelter is staffed by one animal service supervisor, two animal service officers, two animal care technicians and one animal care assistant.
