Experts Have Advice for Obamas' on Search for 'Hypoallergenic' Dog - The Ledger- hypoallergenic dogs

This photo from video shows one of a Wisconsin breeder’s Australian Labradoodle puppies that she has offered in a letter to future first lady Michelle Obama for the Obama children. While the Obamas’ decision will probably not be made until the family has moved into the White House, we consulted dog experts/lovers, who offered sage advice not just for the president-elect, but for any family with children who might be seeking their first family pet. And their recommendations - outside of not buying a dog from a pet shop that gets its animals from an inhumane puppy mill - may surprise you. The Obama Search: A List Of Hypoallergenic Dogs - Hartford Courant

Hypoallergenic breeds have gained attention as a result of president-elect Obama’s search for a dog for his allergy-suffering daughter Malia. Approximately 10 percent of Americans are allergic to dogs, with reactions ranging from itchy eyes to more serious complications such as asthma attacks or constricted breathing, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. These breeds have non-shedding coats, which produce less dander (it’s the skin dander that is attached to pet hair which causes most pet allergies in humans). Each dog in a litter of mixed breeds is unique in its size, coat type, temperament and energy level, making the high prices unjustifiable and the claims these dogs are ideal misleading at best. Measures that help include removing carpets, heavy drapes and upholstered furniture that trap dander; washing pet beds often and grooming your dog frequently, and not letting the pet sleep on the bed of an allergy sufferer.

Obama should just do right thing and forget about the dog - Daily Nation- Topic: hypoallergenic dogs

Football | Athletics | Cricket | Rugby | Golf | Hockey | Tennis | Motorsports | TalkUP! True, it has been a long presidential tradition â” since first president George Washington (1789-1797) â” to keep animals in the White House. Bush moved into the White House with two Scottish terriers and a springer spaniel which was born in the White House when his father, George H. I think some of the people have not noticed that most presidents in the white house have had dog pets.
