Buddy wears a harness over his curly brown fur, which is hypo-allergenic because he doesn’t shed, and Alex wears a harness around his waist that is attached to Buddy’s harness. Knechtel said that if Alex is afraid he will bolt and having Buddy attached to her son could prevent him from running into the middle of a road. Buddy is also trained to track Alex if he gets away from Knechtel. Alex and Buddy recently participated in the Tender Wishes walk at the Welland Child Care Centre to raise money for families who have terminally ill children. Knechtel called Tender Wishes is a beautiful charity and even put a donation in Biker’s Rights Organization Niagara’s name as a thank-you for helping Alex get Buddy.
